Adolfo Pena Sr.

Rio Grande City, Texas - Adolfo Pena Sr., a longtime resident of Rio Grande City entered eternal rest at the age of 87 on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas. 

He was born in Rio Grande City, Texas on August 11, 1938, and was preceded in death by his parents, Tomas and Andrea Peña, his loving wife, Rose Marie Peña, his brothers and sisters, Lino Peña, Beatrice Peña, Carlota Hernandez, Reynaldo Peña, Rodolfo Peña, Jesus Peña, Ruben Peña and Leonel Pena. Mr. Peña is survived by his one sister, Adelaida Peña: Son, Adolfo Peña, Jr. (Beatriz), Daughter, Christina (Jesse), Grandsons, Brian Adolfo Peña, Ramiro Peña, Granddaughter, Jackie (Joshua).

Mr. Peña joined The United States Army Reserve shortly after high school, worked as a carpenter, and also worked for the USDA Tick Research Laboratory at Morfeildbase for over 20 years. He was very passionate for the family ranch that he worked and managed tirelessly throughout his life.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City from 1:30pm to 8:00pm with a prayer by Father Francisco Solis and holy rosary at 6:00pm. Funeral Services continue Saturday morning 8:00am to 9:45am, followed by mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Rio Grande City County Cemetery.
