Rio Grande City, Alicia A. Bermudez, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 17, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on Christmas Day in 1933 to Carlos Alvarez and Amelia Garcia Alvarez at Agua Verde Ranch Starr County, she was the oldest of ten children. A devoted homemaker and rancher, Alicia found joy in cooking and gardening. She had a deep love for gardening, tending to her flowers and plants with care. Alicia was blessed with a large and loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Abelardo Bermudez Sr. She is survived by her five children, Abelardo (Ana) Bermudez Jr., Irene Neve, Carlos (Leticia) Bermudez, Margarito (Esmeralda) Bermudez, Amelia (Orlan) Mandujano. Sisters Dora Morin, Delia Cruz and Minerva Rodolfo, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great- grandchildren, each of whom carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion.
Her family was her greatest pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She lived a full and meaningful life, Alicia’s memory will be treasured by all who knew her, and her presence will continue to be felt in the lives of her family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sanchez Funeral Home, Rio Grande City.
