Arturo E. Barrera

Arturo Barrera 92 passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at San Antonio Wellness and Rehabilitation  Center in San Antonio, TX. Arturo was born October 4, 1931 to Pedro B Rosa and Maria Dolores E Barrera in Escobares, TX. Arturo lived in Santa Elena Ranch in El Suaz, Laredo and Jourdanton.

Arturo had several occupations throughout his life. He was a ranch hand, a long haul driver, heavy equipment

operator, and his last job a school bus driver for Pleasanton ISD. He truly enjoyed being a bus driver.

During his time in Laredo, Arturo was very involved in his church at Mother Cabrini and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Arturo achieved the rank of Grand Knight.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Josefina P Barrera, brothers Hilario (Candelaria+)  Barrera, Ricardo Barrera, Pedro Barrera Jr. and sister Maria Rafaela Olivarez.

He is survived by his son Arturo (Bertha) Barrera, grandchildren Sergio (Melissa) Barrera, Jorge (Teresa) Barrera, Patricia (Blake) Hunsaker and Carlos Barrera. Great-grandchildren Danielle A Plunkett, Gabriel A Barrera, Julian J (JJ) Barrera, Araceli A Barrera, Francesca A Barrera and Oaklynn G Barrera.

Siblings Raul (Maria) Barrera, Tomas Barrera, Mario (Odilia +) Barrera, Anastacia (Humberto +) Lopez, Maria Luisa Barrera and Maria Elena (John) Lemos. He is also survived by in-laws Irma Barrera, Maria Elena Barrera, Antonio Olivarez, and numerous family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at San Antonio Wellness and Rehabilitation Center and the staff at Embrace Hospice in San Antonio, Texas.
