Known to many as a gentle soul with a steady heart, she grew up in the heart of Rio Grande City, where her early days with her siblings Amanda Gonzalez, Sandra Gonzalez, William Hocker, Edward Hocker, and Wilma Lynch sowed the seeds of the kinship that would shape her life.

Bernice was the beloved wife of the late Jessie Ray Warren. Together, they built a life grounded in partnership and shared dreams. They faced both joy and sorrow with hands clasped, and though they mourned the loss of their son Jessie Ray Warren II, Bernice remained a foundation for her family—a steady light through the hardest storms. After Jessie’s passing in 2013, Bernice carried forward his memory with grace, being present for graduations, weddings, and a host of other milestones and moments for those she loved.

To her children, Bernice was a haven. Her daughter, Natalie (Alonso) Armendariz, and her son, Wil (Angie) Warren, knew a mother whose guidance was gentle yet strong, whose love was unconditional, and whose pride in them shone brightly in every word she spoke. She poured her heart into their lives, teaching by quiet example the value of kindness and the strength found in generosity.

As a grandmother, Bernice’s affection knew no bounds. She reveled in the laughter and accomplishments of her grandchildren: Jed (Sarah) Warren, Macayla (Hayden) Houk, Kasandra (Kenneth) Armendariz, Alonso (Sommer) Armendariz, and Joshua Armendariz. She found immense joy in their presence and milestones, each gathering a testament to the bonds she'd nurtured and the legacy she leaves behind.

Bernice’s spirit touched not only her immediate family, not only her surviving siblings Amanda, Sandra, and William, but everyone who had the privilege to know her. In shared stories and quiet moments, her influence will live on—proof of a life well-lived and a heart well-shared.
The community is invited to join in remembering Bernice’s life during services at Sanchez Funeral Home, 301 East Second St., Rio Grande City, TX. A memorial service will be held on Friday 14, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A chapel service will take place on Saturday, August 15, at 10:00 AM, leading to the burial at St. John Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

Though Bernice Beatrice Warren has departed from this world, the love she gave and the lives she enriched remain an everlasting testament to her memory.
