Elmo Eduardo Moreno, of Rio Grande City, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Los Saenz, he lived a life defined by dedication and a genuine love for learning.

Elmo was a man who loved deeply. His greatest joy was his family, whom he cherished above all else—his beloved wife, Asuzena, his daughter, Joanna, and his granddaughter, Taylor, who brought him endless pride and happiness.

He had a lifelong passion for learning through reading and viewing documentaries. He was most interested in learning and studying history, especially the stories of Texas and New Mexico. Whether tending to his gardening, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, listening to music, or traveling, Elmo embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm.

Professionally, he dedicated many years to serving his community. He began his career as a banker at First National Bank and later spent many impactful years as the Director of the Starr County Housing Authority, where he worked to support and uplift local families.

Elmo now joins his parents, Francisco and Teresa Moreno, in eternal rest. He is survived by his devoted wife, Asuzena, his daughter, Joanna, his son‑in‑law, Armando Olivarez, and his cherished granddaughter, Taylor. He is also survived by his brother, David Moreno, and sister‑in‑law, Aida Moreno.

Elmo’s legacy is one of kindness, knowledge, and unwavering love for those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service Mass will be held in March, with further details to be announced.
