Eloisa Flores-Barrera, 96, of Rio Grande City, passed away peacefully at her home on February 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Eloisa was born in Los Ebanos, Texas and was the eldest of five children. From a young age, she carried strength and responsibility with grace. She devoted her life wholeheartedly to her family, who were always the center of her world. She also dedicated much of her time and heart to her bus stations and business, working tirelessly with determination and pride.
Her strength, independence, hard work, and deep empathy are what made her so extraordinary. She treated every customer with dignity and kindness, always making sure they felt welcomed and cared for. Long after her business closed, many loyal customers continued to reach out to her—a true testament to the lasting impact she made on so many lives. Everything she accomplished was guided by her unwavering faith, which she carried with her in every step she took.
She leaves behind her loving children, Felipe Omar Barrera, married to Martha Barrera, and Eduardo Javier Barrera, married to Debra Barrera. She was blessed with six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Felipe B. Barrera.
