Emilia Garza-Esparza (Mile, Milita)
July 14, 1934 – June 29, 2025
With loving hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Emilia Garza-Esparza, affectionately known as Mile or Milita, in the early morning hours of June 29, 2025. Born in Los Saenz, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Luciano Garza and Emilia Muñoz-Garza. Milita graduated from Roma High School in 1953 and dedicated her life to education and her community. She was employed by Roma Independent School District from 1953 until her retirement in 1992. During her career, she served as Senior Class President, Secretary to the School Business Manager, and later to the middle school counselor, touching many lives with her kindness and leadership. A devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Los Saenz, Milita actively participated in the Sacred Heart Society, serving as president for many years. Her faith and commitment to her community were central to her life. In 1959, Milita married the love of her life, Ricardo Esparza of Edinburg, Texas. They shared a loving marriage until Ricardo’s passing on March 17, 1994. She is survived by her six children: Ricardo Jr. (Norma), Cynthia (Joe), Celia (Loel), Cecilia (Bobby), Ronaldo (Velma), and Cristina. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Irene Ramos of Corpus Christi, Texas. Milita was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Maria Isabella and Irma, and four nephews. Her gentle spirit and endless love remain in the hearts of all who knew her. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her caregiver of 17 years, Ema, as well as to Avalon Memory Care and Heavenly Healthcare for their compassionate care. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary scheduled for 6:00 PM. The funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Los Saenz, Texas. Burial will follow at Los Saenz Cemetery.
Roma- Emilia Esparza, 90, died Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Avalon Facility in Edinburg, Texas. Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of Sanchez Funeral Home in Roma, TX.
