Josefa Perez

Josefa Hinojosa Perez, a lifetime resident of Starr County passed away on April 8, 2013, after a brief illness at the age of 97. Josefa was born at La Particion Ranch in Jim Hogg County, Texas, on August 24, 1915. She was a lifetime resident of Starr County and a member of a pioneer family in Texas. She was a direct descendant of Jose de Hinojosa, an original Camargo settler since 1749, and the grantee of Porcion 105 in Starr County in 1767. She was in the ranching business. She was the eldest daughter of Don Lino Hinojosa, and Josefa Longoria Hinojosa from San Isidro, Texas.

Josefa attended San Isidro High School, in San Isidro, Texas, Immaculate Conception Parochial School in Rio Grande City, and Holding Institute for Girls in Laredo, Texas. Josefa was a dedicated housewife and mother and was greatly admired in her community. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her in her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Toraldo Casimiro Perez, Sr., daughter, Lydia Griselda Perez, and Jose Javier Perez. She is survived by sons, Toraldo C. Perez, Jr., Juan Lino Perez, Sylvestre Angel Perez, and daughter, Idolina Araceli Davis.
Deceased brothers Raul Hinojosa, (Inez) Hermilo Hinojosa, (Lydia), Lino Hinojosa, (Lydia), Noe Hinojosa, Ramiro Hinojosa, (Hortencia) Emma H. Falcon, (Eugenio),and Elia H. Munoz, (Guadalupe).

Grandchildren Roque Martin Perez, Jorge Damian Perez, Javier Ivan Perez, Edgardo Perez, Juan Lino Perez, Jr., and Celeste Aimee Munoa, and 7 great grandchildren.
She is survived by Minerva Hinojosa Guillen (Mario), and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted by Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, Texas. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, between 2:00 p.m .and 9:00 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00p.m.at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and interment will follow at the Rio Grande City Cemetery, in Rio Grande City, Texas.
