Juanita A. Munoz, née Alaniz, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on July 25, 1943, in Orange Grove, Texas, Juanita lived a life marked by profound love, resilience, and devotion to her family and faith.
Throughout her many years, Juanita embodied warmth and strength, fostering deep bonds with all those around her. She was cherished by those who knew her not only as a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, but also as a compassionate soul whose kindness touched many lives.
Juanita’s memory will be forever treasured by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Belen (Jorge) Gonzalez, Velma Munoz, Belinda (Luis) Pastrana, Homero (Liliana) Munoz, and Vanessa Munoz.She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Wally (Katrina) Alaniz (brother), Antonia Garza (sister), and Eva (Rogelio "Roger") Carrion (sister), also survive her, holding their beloved Juanita close in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor C. Munoz, her son, Victor Munoz Jr., and her brother-in-law, Rodolfo Garza. The bonds they shared remain an enduring part of her legacy.
Juanita’s journey took her from her birthplace in Orange Grove through the many stages of life—motherhood, marriage, and friendship—rooted in strong family values and unwavering commitment. Her courage, especially in the face of illness, serves as an inspiration to all who knew her.
Services honoring Juanita’s life will begin with visitation at Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home, located at 101 AR Sanchez Sr. Dr., Roma, TX 78584, on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 5:45 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Monday, July 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A Mass will be held at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, 4987 Old Escobares Hwy 83, Roma, TX 78584, commencing at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Escobares Cemetery, Old Escobares Hwy 83, Escobares, TX 78584, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Juanita's life reflected grace, compassion, and steadfast love. She leaves behind a family enriched by her wisdom and guided by her example. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy endures in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
