Lauro Munoz

Lauro Eloy Muñoz, a longtime resident of Roma, passed away, peacefully, on January 22, 2026. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 28 th , from 1pm to 8pm with the Rosary at 6pm. Services will be held at Sanchez Funeral Home in Roma, TX. A mass will be held on Thursday, January 29th at 10am at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, in Roma, followed by the burial at Roma Cemetery. 

Lauro was born on August 18, 1938, in Los Saenz, TX to Julio and Elisa Munoz. He was a resident of Roma for many years before moving to San Antonio, TX. Lauro was an educator, namely in mathematics and geometry. He started his teaching career with the Roma ISD. He later continued teaching and retired from Harlandale ISD in San Antonio. After retiring from teaching, he had a yearning to reconnect with his roots and bought a ranch in Poth, TX and began raising cattle. The robust ranch eventually became the site for many memorable family events. Lauro enjoyed hosting family and friends at his ranch for many annual Easter celebrations. 

He is survived by his daughter Daphne Cano and her husband Reyes, his son Lauro Munoz Jr and his wife Terri, and his daughter Thomasina Escobar and her husband Ricardo II. He is also survived by his son-in-law Noe Villarreal. He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Samantha Ortiz, Josephine Ortiz-Davila and her husband Nowelle, Victoria Muñoz, Sofia Muñoz, Miranda Muñoz, Daniela Escobar, Mireya Escobar, Ariana Escobar, Carina Escobar, Julian Villarreal, Roman Villarreal, and Mateo Villarreal.

He was preceded in death by Yvonne Muñoz, his daughters Michelle Muñoz and Julieta Villarreal, and his grandson, Noe Nicolas Villarreal.
