Trevino, U.S. Air Force, Julian Seghers, Lauren Seghers, Gretchen Seghers, Carlos Ramirez, Raul Ramirez, and Gabriela Ramirez.Polo was born in Rio Grande City, Texas, exactly one month before the attack on Pearl Harbor and was baptized the same day. Raised in a home with five siblings, he began working at a very young age to help support his family. Blessed with a keen mechanical mind, a love of art and science, and an endless curiosity for how things worked, he carried these traits throughout his life. He often spoke fondly of his grandparents and the time spent helping them on their farm in Los Saenz, Texas.A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Polo enlisted in 1962 and served six years as a Medical Corpsman. After his service, he trained as a Lab and X-Ray Technician before returning to Rio Grande City. In the early 1970s he began working for the U.S. Postal Service, and in 1977 he joined the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. He retired in 1997 as Port Director of the Rio Grande City, Roma, and Falcon Dam Ports of Entry. Polo was widely known in Starr County for his exceptional carpentry and woodworking skills. Together with his wife Leticia, he restored numerous historic homes and buildings that others had considered beyond repair. He also served his community on the Rio Grande City Historic Preservation Commission, the local Rotary Club, Rio Grande City High School Band Boosters, and the local Masonic Lodge. He remained a man of deep faith who lived by the words “Primeramente Dios Siempre” (God First, Always). To his family and friends, he will forever stand as an example that anything is possible through hard work, focus, and dedication. The public is invited to celebrate Polo’s life on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, Texas.
