Maria Angeles Castaneda, lovingly known to all as Mary or Tita, was born on September 24, 1956, in Los Arrieros, Texas. She was a woman of great strength, faith, and compassion whose love touched everyone around her. A true warrior in every sense, Mary faced life’s challenges with courage and grace, fighting bravely until her final day. Despite her health struggles, her laughter, warmth, and unshakable love for her family never dimmed.

Mary found joy in life’s simplest moments — cooking for her loved ones, sharing stories, and surrounding herself with family. She was the heart of every gathering, a source of wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren was endless, and her legacy of faith, kindness, and perseverance will continue through them.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Reuben Castaneda; daughter, Crystal Marie Castaneda; parents, Juan Manuel Gonzalez and Emma Gonzalez; sister Fidela Lerma, brothers Juan Antonio and Dagoberto Gonzalez

Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Erica (Osbert) Garza and Daniella Castaneda; and her seven cherished grandchildren: Osbert D. Garza Jr., Amber Garza, Saul Garcia, Juan Cisneros, Aracely Riojas, Mariah Riojas, and Allison Riojas. She is also survived by her beloved brothers and sisters, Luis Gonzalez, Juanita A. Garcia and Laura Montoya, as well as many nieces and nephews who she has always remained a constant for. The bond they shared was filled with laughter, love, and support that will never be forgotten.

She also leaves behind the father of her grandchildren, Eden Riojas, who share in the love and legacy she leaves behind.

Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Mary’s life was a beautiful reflection of strength, love, and faith — one that continues to inspire everyone blessed to have known her.

May she rest in eternal peace.
