It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Odilia Ortiz Longoria, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She fell asleep in Jesus on January 1st, 2026. Born on August 3rd, 1940 in La Grulla, Texas, she was the 9th of 13 children. Odilia attended El Faro School in Sullivan City, Texas, a private Christian school. It was in church that she met her beloved husband, Pablo Longoria, whom she loved and cherished for 63 years. Together they built a life dedicated to God and family. They raised 4 children in the States of Washington and Illinois. Odilia held many positions, primarily at Anchor Brush and World Book Encyclopedia. She dedicated her life to her family, finding joy In every moment spent with them.
Odilia was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Guadalupe Ortiz, her siblings as follows: infant Emma Ortiz, Teresa Garcia, Lorenzo Ortiz, Jr. Amelia Reyna, Miguel Ortiz, Aurora Richmond, Guadalupe Gutierrez, and Uvaldo Ortiz.
She is survived by her children; Pamela Christian Dahl, Pablo Longoria Jr., Georgina Ann Longoria, and Florencia Morales, 9 grandchildren; Clarissa Nicole Venson, Marissa Yvette Caban, Jacob Adrián Morales, Brent Andrew Bollinger, Jason Confesor Morales, Joseph Lee Morales, Melissa Ann Longoria, Sandra Marie Kraus and Pablo Longoria III; and 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 siblings, Adela Solis (96), Maria Nieves Ortiz (83), Apolonio Ortiz (79) and Emma Mirelez (76).
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 4th, 2026 at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, Texas with a service from 5:00 to 7:00. Internment will be at 10:30 Monday morning at Solis cemetery in La Grulla, Texas. Those that wish to accompany the family in a processional should meet between the hours of 8 and 10 at Sanchez Funeral Home, Rio Grande City, Texas.
Rio Grande City – Odilia Ortiz Longoria, age 85, passed away peacefully at Mission Regional Medical Center Hospital, in Mission, Texas, on Thursday, January 01, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, TX.
