Ricardo Omar Peña 1957 - 2024 Our gentle giant, 67, of Rio Grande City Tx, was called to be with our Lord on Monday 12/09/24.He was born in Rio Grande City Tx on April 15, 1957 to Roberto C. Peña & Lorene Peña. He was the youngest of 9 children. He played football in high school and his love for the sport continued to this day. His greater love was the love of music. He played the guitar and bass with perfection and all self taught. His true love though, was his family, friends, and God. Ricardo O. Peña was preceded in death by his mother Lorene Peña, father Roberto Peña, brothers Carlos Peña, Ovidio Peña, & Roberto Peña Jr, sister Sylvia Zon, nephews Mark Smith & Stephen Zon, and nieces Marissa Peña & Marty Gonzalez. He is survived by his daughter Sylvia R Avila and her husband Mario Avila, Granddaughters Rubi M. Avila & Kali M. Avila, Grandson Mario A. Avila, three great-granddaughters, sister Gloria Smith and her husband Roel Smith, sister Gracie Gonzalez, sister Lorene Villareal, Brother Jorge Peña and his wife Leticia Peña and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Sanchez Funeral HomeWednesday 12/11/24 from 12pm-1pm for the family and 1pm - 8pm for friends and loved ones. A small service will be held during the visitation from 6pm-7pm. Funeral will be Thursday 12/12/24 at Templo Maranata (5162 Juarez St Las Lomas Tx) at 10am, burial to follow.
