Richard Bates

Rio Grande City- Our family said goodbye to our beloved father and brother Richard Bates on Sunday, March 6, 2016. Richard passed away at McAllen Medical Center from complications of a lengthy illness. Richard attended school in Rio Grande City, TX and after graduating joined the Marine Corps in 1953 upon discharge in 1957, he went to work in Houma, LA for Wilson Downhole CO.

In 1963 he married Gail Johnson in Houma, LA. He later moved back to Rio Grande City, TX until his death. Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Jr. (Teri) of Dade City, FL., Emory (Odie) of Rio Grande City, TX and a Daughter Lisa Ford of Indiana. 4 grand children, and 6 great grand children, He was also survived by his sisters Nina Catalano, Elma Coers and Sandie Martinez of San Antonio, TX., Ruth Rosenquist of Missoula, MT. and Shirley Moore of Napa, CA.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, + 2 Brothers Buddy and Johnny Bates, + daughter Linda Bates Pelligrin. We will miss you, DAD & BROTHER

Visitations began on March 10, 2016 from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm at Sanchez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. Mass will be at 10 a.m. on March 11, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church. Sanchez Funeral Home of Rio Grande City is in charge of arrangements.
