Romeo Lopez Sr.

Romeo Lopez Sr., 74, a life-long resident of Rio Grande City, Texas passed away peacefully on December 23, 2020, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.

He was born on April 27, 1946, in Rio Grande City to Luciano Lopez and Ernestina Garcia. Upon graduating from Rio Grande City High School, Romeo became a member of the United States Air Force and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a skilled welder and employed in the oil field industry for many years until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elda M. Lopez; his children, Samantha Lynn Lopez, Romeo Lopez Jr. (Janie), Ricardo Lee Lopez (Adriana), Katherine Venegas (Manuel), his sister Perla Mendoza; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Romeo will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Services were held at Sanchez Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and today, Thursday, December 24, 2020, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Rio Grande City Cemetery.

ROMEO LOPEZ, 74, DIED ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2020 AT RIO GRANDE REGIONAL HOSPITAL IN MCALLEN, TX. SANCHEZ FUNERAL HOME WILL BE IN CHARGE OF HIS FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS.
