Velma Hinojosa Arevalo

Velma Hinojosa Arevalo, devoted mother, sister, and daughter, passed away on January 28, 2018, at Starr County Memorial Hospital at age 52. She was born and raised in Falfurrias, Texas but had made Roma, Texas her home for the last 26 years.

She was unconditional in her passion and love for Roma ISD, where she worked for over 24 years as a substitute teacher, teacher's aide, and secretary until her passing. Her joy and enthusiasm were infectious, and she brought sunshine into the lives of everyone who knew her.

She has left to join her baby daughter, Vanessa Andrea Arevalo, who preceded her in death, but her memories and spirit will be cherished by many who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters, Gina Ann Arevalo and Marla Denise Arevalo; her parents, Casimiro and Bertha Hinojosa of Falfurrias, TX; her sisters, Diane Hinojosa of Edinburg, Texas and Elsa Hinojosa of Austin, Texas.

Visitation will be held February 1, 2018, at 11:00am-9:00 pm, and a chapel service will be held at 6 pm at Sanchez Memorial Funeral Home in Roma, Texas.
