Vidal Hinojosa, 53, passed peacefully on September 12, 2013 in his home in Roma, Texas surrounded by his family after his long well fought battle against cancer.

Mr. Hinojosa was born on September 28, 1959 in Camargo,Tamaulipas to Rodolfo and Ercilia Hinojosa.

He is survived by his wife San Juanita Hinojosa of 28 years, son Vidal Isaac Hinojosa, daughter Cassandra Lynnette Hinojosa, parents Rodolfo and Ercilia Hinojosa, brother Jorge Hinojosa, sisters Norma Benitez and Nelba Hinojosa, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Vidal was an educator at Roma ISD for 29 years as well as a professor of mathematics for South Texas College for 15; he had a true passion for education, he was an advocate for the success of all students and strove above and beyond by challenging students to reach a higher level of success through his continued devotion for the schools UIL program. The great joy his career gave him would have lasted a lifetime but he was forced to retire at an early age due to his illness.

Vidal was not just a great educator but a loving caring husband, father, and friend. He was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and community. He served as a Catechist, was an honor guard of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus, and gave countless hours of help to many local band and school programs. Vidal's unselfish undertakings made him a true inspiration to so many, his contributions and love will forever be cherished.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 9:00 PM at Sanchez Funeral Home on Friday, September 13. Funeral services for Vidal will be at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church on Saturday, September 14 at 12:00 P.M. Vidal will then be laid to rest at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Roma, Tx.
